The museum is situated inside Le Châtelard Attraction Park, at the top of the Funicular (in the Les Montuires station).
The old machinery of Le Châtelard historical Funicular was in service from 1920 to 1995. The BBC-Motor on the right is the first one and allowed a speed of 75 cm per second (journey 35 minutes). The BBC-Motor on the left was put into service in 1953. It allowed an increase in the transport capacity of the Funicular for building the second CFF-SBB-dam which submerged the Alp of Vieux-Emosson (speed 1 m/s - journey 22 minutes). Both motors are asynchron and worked under alternative tension 3~ 500 V 50 Hz.
